Tugu Jogja, The Icon of Yogyakarta


Tugu Jogja  is a symbol of the most famous city of Yogyakarta. This monument is located right in the middle of the intersection of Prince Street Mangkubumi, Jalan General Sudirman, Jalan AM Sangaji and Jalan Diponegoro. Tugu Jogja nearly 3 centuries old have deep meaning as well save some recording history of the city of Yogyakarta.  Tugu Jogja established approximately a year after the Yogyakarta Palace stands. At the time of its inception, this building clearly illustrates Manunggaling Gusti servant, the spirit of unity of the people and rulers to fight the occupation.
Tugu Jogja has the feel of a typical compared with other historic buildings or monuments. Perhaps this is what makes such community spirit and history of the city of Jogjakarta.
 Nuance of Tugu Jogja is also very interesting to be enjoyed in the afternoon until the evening before dusk. Crowded vehicle spotlights and decorative lighting pillar makes the landscape come alive. Many of the tourists who come to the site at night just to take pictures, even some are using as a model and the pre-wedding photo shoot.
There is a myth, that anyone who visited Jogja and then touch this monument was a symbol of their love for the city of Yogyakarta at the same pledge that will always be missed and will someday return visit to this city.
